Gaming and Status Icons

People will disagree with me when I say modern gaming has become less entertainment, and more being recognized. An Xbox 360 is more of a status icon than it is an entertainment system. Droves of children running into friends from school and holding seminars about what games they have and dont have testifies to my deduction. To add to the brunt of social dystopia, everyone wants to be the best at Halo 2, and in the next few months, Halo 3. Video game vendors are becoming more and more esoteric with their fanbase than the consumer market as a whole, and who can make the best graphics determines who gets the most media hype.
No one, in my opinion will ever top the price Neo-Geo put up for their home console, but Sony is pushing the envelope, and everyone is talking about it. Nintendo wants to play the good guy, and expect nothing but meer pocket change from their consumers, and for the first time EVER, Microsoft is playing the middleman.
I don't see anyone having fun with games, inasmuch as they are trying to get the newest thing to invite all their friends over and play it. That's probably all that matters anymore. I'm sure I could have written this blog entry a little better, and with more detail, but you get the idea.

YoYoPete : Yeah, It's like when you think about your favorite gaming experiences and you realize they arent even on any of the current systems.

Recent Blog: Where are the subtleties?
zero : I hate to keep bringing up the same example, but don't forget God of War. The most fun i've had with a game in a long time.
