PSP Online gaming, take my advice Sony..

As the DS and PSP came out, I think online multiplayer gaming on consoles has just about been realised by all gamers. Whiles more “hardcore” gamers were most probably in the know about it for a while now, more casual gamers, including many of my friends are just starting to understand what it is and how they can get connected. Of course they’re all familiar with normal multiplayer in a game, but the idea of playing someone possibly on the other side of the planet is, understandably, mind-boggling.

Microsoft Why?

Microsoft why is it so unreasonable to offer a mouse and keyboard combo for the Xbox 360? In my opinion I think Microsoft would be able to gather more gamers this way. It maybe a niche market of gamers who either want to upgrade their PC or buy an xbox 360. The truely hardcore pc gamer who can afford $500.00 video cards every year is going to stick with their pc habits. But for those who want to be a little more frugal with their spending but still play great games, the Xbox 360 makes a perfect choice.

I deferred purchasing Tomb Raider Legend initially on two counts; the first being that I played the PS2 demo and thought 'so what?', the second being I preferred the idea of playing the game on the move so opted for the PSP version. What is all also ran in terms of design and action on the PS2 is still one of few games of that type on PSP.

I have been proved wrong [again] when it comes to games. Anyone who follows or plays or does both in relation to video games, assumes over time a pretty strong conviction they know when to spot a hit or a dog. Especially in relation to hardware. The N-gage; the Virtual Boy; the Gizmondo. I have to confess to being bemused by the fact that anyone - investor, employer, developer believed in these as ever being money-making ventures from the moment they must have been shown the blueprints. The game business is cutthroat - unless you are perfectly positioned, cash rich and have the market by the throat, failure awaits. How even a medium-sized company like Sega with a strong arcade position could be completely ejected from the hardware market shows how merciless it is.

Brain Training

I got bitten by the Brain Training bug (i won't try and recreate his name - my memory is not that good) at the airport on the way to Stockholm. The security guard had locked my bag and the PSP inside it, in the office on the previous night, so my erstwhile plan to play Daxter across the North Sea was out, and I was forced to blow dust off the DS.

All Quiet on The PSP Front

I think alot of people already have this in their minds, but in the months looming ahead with the PSP firmware updates and the next wave of games, everything has been very quiet. The PSP as it stands right now for some people have become expensive paperweight. For others the experience is a lot more about filling their time with the games or the music.

There has been a lot of dispute in PSP Forums, about playing sidescrolling games on a system that is clearly capable of more. 'Get with the times', say our young 3D friends. 'Grafics', the defenders of the 2D environment will say 'aren‘t everything'.

The "Humor" of G4TV

I continue to not like G4TV to this day. Probably my mistake was turning to the very station, hoping that a newly formatted "Attack of the Show" would somehow be better. Sadly, I was wrong about change, and right about crap. The gaming community not only felt betrayed, but surpised when AOTS claimed they would bring everyone videos from the Internet no one had yet known about. Leeroy Jenkins took less than 4 days to become fully innocuated as an Internet phenom, YTMND took quite a while, but after the launch of YTMND.com, the acronym became a house-hold phrase among lunchtime banter in highschools across the nation.
